MEET SHELTON J. COBB
Shelton was born in Lafayette Louisiana where he attended Paul Breaux Elementary and High School before attending the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now ULL) graduating in 1964. He later earned the MA. from Southern University in 1969.
Shelton is a conservative democrat . He has served the Lafayette Community in many capacities over the years; as a teacher for the Lafayette Parish School Board, a Loan officer for the Lafayette Teacher’s and Employee Federal Credit Union, Assistant Treasure of Southern Cooperative Development fund, Training and Special Field Representative of Associated General Contractors, Director of Migrant & Indian Education for the State Department of Education, Supervisor of Veterans Education and Training Louisiana State Department of Education, Assistant Director and Director of the Lafayette Regional Vocational Technical Institute, Director of the Lafayette Regional office of the Louisiana Technical College and the Director of the Louisiana Technical College, Lafayette Campus.
Shelton has many civic and social affiliation for which he has given both time and service; Black Alliance for Progress, Lafayette Education Association past President, Lafayette Chamber of Commerce past Board member, past President of St. Anthony Neighborhood Organization, past member Lafayette Neighborhood Economic Development, past Chairperson Helping Hands Board of Directors, and past member of the Lafayette Housing Authority.
